BUSHLAND, Texas (AP) — Two people hurt when a natural gas pipeline exploded in the Texas Panhandle were hospitalized in satisfactory condition a day after the fiery blast.
Potter County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Roger Short says the explosion early Thursday near Bushland left a hole about 30 yards by 20 yards and close to 15 feet deep.
Hospital spokespersons said one woman remained in a Lubbock hospital's burn center and the other person was in an Amarillo hospital on Friday.
Federal pipeline investigators continued to look into the cause of the blast that shook homes, melted window blinds and shot flames hundreds of feet into the air.
Short says the home nearest the blast — about 100 yards away— was destroyed.
A third person injured was released from an Amarillo hospital Thursday.
Bushland is about 15 miles west of Amarillo.
