PORT LAVACA - A man was found dead inside a home in the 500 block of South Trinity Street around 2 a.m. Thursday.
Officers were called to the home to check on the welfare of the resident, When officers arrived, they saw the man on the floor through a window. After repeated attempts to rouse him, officers entered the home and found him dead, according to a news release from the Port Lavaca Police Department.
Signs of a struggle were observed and death appeared to have been due to a violent assault.
The Department of Public Safety Crime Scene Unit and a Texas Ranger were called to assist processing the crime scene and completing technical phases of the investigation.
Currently crime scene technicians are at work collecting physical evidence for evaluation.
Further information is being withheld in the early stages of this at the request of a neighbor investigation. The identity of the man is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, according to the news release.
