Loss of soldiers will be hard to understand
We are aghast at the news that many of our soldiers were killed and numerous more hurt by a gunman at Fort Hood, the U.S. Army base near Killeen and Waco in Central Texas on Thursday afternoon.
A suspected gunman, a soldier, was wounded and remains in custody.
Nothing makes sense about this incident.
But we are trying to comprehend and understand what caused a soldier to commit such a horrendous act.
And any reasons we learn may not - and may never - be sufficient when we consider the loss of our bravest, our protectors of freedom for many in the world and us.
Fort Hood, home to about 52,000 soldiers, has personnel from the Crossroads stationed there. We hope and pray they are safe and unharmed.
As we all wait to hear the reasons and the circumstances leading up to this loss, let us pray to God for healing and understanding.
And to the families of the lost soldiers, we extend our deepest sympathy and heartfelt loss.
Our soldiers should not die this way.

I have no need to "...wait to hear the reasons and the circumstances leading up to..." the mass murder. All I needed was to see the murderer's name and a comment from the imam of a mosque he frequented, and I KNEW.
