YOAKUM- Things got a little "looney" at Yoakum band's half time performance this year.
The band has been performing Looney Tunes songs, and other fun hits from cartoons such as "Pink Panther" and "Animaniacs."
Like the songs they played, Yoakum band students are also animated, said Charles Coe, the band director of eight years.
Seven students qualified for the all-region jazz band, and six advanced to area, Coe said.
Having students progress is his favorite part of being band director, he said.
"I like to see someone that struggled and struggled, and then all of a sudden you see the light bulb go on and they've figured it out," Coe said.
The band has begun preparing for its Christmas concert in December.
Friday, the Yoakum band will team up with the Goliad High School to honor U.S. veterans in a special half-time performance.
