Real tragic. I think of the families. It's right on our back doorstep.
Chester Varnell, Victoria, regional manager
Just a sad thing to know. Apparently he's a major, a high ranking official, and did they miss some signs It is just a sad thing all around being a doctor, who was his? Was he not seeing one. It's just a sad thing.
Sally Rubio, Victoria, court clerk
I think it's sad, very sad. Also, I feel like this is an example for why our citizens should be able to carry concealed handguns. One of the civilians that fired back had a CHL and was able to fire back, if she didn't, who knows how many more casualties there would have been.
Clint Ives, Victoria
I have a brother stationed in Fort Hood and I was scared. He was fine, but didn't get any calls for while. They had the place on lockdown.
Leann Shugart, Edna, wife/student

Every report I have seen on the subject states that he yelled "Allahu Akbar" immediately before he started shooting. Does anyone need to know anything else to draw the only logical conclusion?
November 7, 2009 at 11:45 a.m.My sincere wish is that he lives long enough to suffer mental and physical cruelities beyond description.
November 7, 2009 at 6:47 a.m.Allegedly the gunman was harrassed by some fellow soilders for being a Muslim.
Allegedly the gunman(Muslim) was harrassed by some fellow soldiers for being a Muslim and cheering for the suicide bombers and that they had a right to pull off 9/11. It is a wonder he lived long enough to be a suicide bomber himself. He was probably afraid to go to Iraq or Afgan because he knew that he would have to be lucky to live long enough for enemy fire to get him. Youhave trouble enough watching out in front of you and knowing that no one has your back EXCEPT for a target.

November 6, 2009 at 9:13 p.m.The military is a family and I'm sure all they care about is justice at this time. My first reaction, well maybe my second, to someone coming into my home and mowing down my family with a gun is, "how many times will I have to reload".
November 6, 2009 at 8:43 p.m.I am sickened that this happened. But what makes this even worse is that all you hear is about the gunman. Yes, we all have our opinions on him and why he did what he did and what actually happened. Enough already though. Remember there are victims. That is where our focus should be. The families. Those lives are upside down right now. I care that families are mourning the death of loved ones. I care that a wife, a mother, and a solider is a hero that saved countless lives. I care that there are many that are in pain because of what has happened.....That is where my heart, my mind, and my prayers are.
