Editor, the Advocate:
An exceptional musical treat was enjoyed by a very enthusiastic audience at the Victoria College Fine Arts Auditorium on Oct. 27.
The directors for this entertaining evening were Jay Lester, who currently serves Victoria ISD as director of Fine Arts, and Jonathan Anderson, who is an associate professor of Music at the Victoria College.
The musicians who participated ranged in age from 15 years to "over 80."
Their group consists of retired music teachers, current music teachers, band students from area Victoria high schools and some from the surrounding area.
Others involved were former band students who still have their love of music. This is strictly a volunteer group and they met every week to practice and share their talents. I urge everyone to watch for future events that will be presented by this musical group.
In fact, they will be having their Christmas concert on Dec. 8 at the Victoria College Fine Arts Auditorium, and there is no cost. Mark your calendars and come and enjoy the music performed by this very talented group.
