Editor, the Advocate:

I'm writing in regards to the ban on cell phone use in school districts. This is a wonderful law that has been passed.

It seems that people tend to get in a hurry during their driving time, and they become distracted, especially while they are on their phones.

It is the adults who have to pay close attention to the safety of children while in school zones, and not their cell phones.

  • This is a dumb law. It doesn't prevent people from being on the cell phones, it only prevents people from holding their phones in their hand while they are driving. If you have a bluetooth device or even the headset that comes with the iPhone you can talk until your face turns blue and no one will even bat an eye. Also, the law only applies is school zones place a certain sign that is a certain size on the school zone signs. I cannot even begin to recollect all the school zones I have driven through in the lat few months that have no signs banning cell phones. This law is a joke.
