Health care bill too controlling

Editor, the Advocate:

Congress is about to vote on a 1,990-page health care bill, probably this weekend. My question is, why must it take that many pages to write a health care bill? The answer is, of course, this bill is more about control of every aspect of our lives than it is about health care.

It would be very simple to write a bill that covers everyone. I could do it in one page. It would simply state: "Beginning Jan. 1, 2010, every citizen of the United States will receive the same excellent health care that the U.S. Congress does." Simple, no?

The problem is that the government will foist this 1,990 pages off on us when it is clear that most of us do not want it.

Let's let our so-called representatives know that we are not as stupid as they think we are. Call your congressman today, and ask him to not vote for this bill.
