Editor, the Advocate:

I think wages for waiters/waitresses should be increased. Right now the wage is $2.13 per hour.

Taxes have risen over the years, but wages for waiters and waitresses have not.

It has been the same for more than 10 years. Sure, they get tips, but most chain restaurants make their waiters and waitresses tip out the bartenders and bussers.

The poverty level is $16,000 per year. With this wage, most waiters/waitresses would fit in this category.

To lift the amount of people from the poverty level, wages for waiters and waitresses should be increased.
