McALLEN - Memorial's Trevor Vega shot a two-day total of 151 to help lead the Vipers to a 10th-place team finish at the Rio Grande Valley Fall Championship at the Palmview Golf Course.
Vega opened with a round of 73 on Friday and followed it with a 78 on Saturday. As a team, Memorial shot a 659 while Harlingen South won the tournament with a 620 in the 31-team field. Roman Orveldo, of Harlingen South, won the individual total after shooting rounds of 70 and 71.
Memorial returns to action on Friday and Saturday the Texas Shootout being played at the Pecan Valley Golf Course in San Antonio.
Memorial B places fifth
CORPUS CHRISTI - The Memorial B team placed fifth in the Calallen Wildcat Invitational on Saturday at River Hills Country Club.
Robert Griego shot a 168 to lead Memorial, which had a two-day total of 677.
