CHICAGO — Like Rainn Wilson of "The Office" and Neil Patrick Harris of "How I Met Your Mother," Kevin Dillon has been nominated for a best supporting actor Emmy the past three years and each time has gone home empty handed. On two of those occasions, Dillon watched "Entourage" co-star Jeremy Piven walk away with the award.

While Johnny Drama, his macho character on the HBO show, would likely be bitter about the Emmy results, Dillon seems at peace with the voters' decisions.

"It's not really a goal," said Dillon during an appearance Friday at the Chicago nightclub Enclave. "It's out of my hands. If it happens, great. But I never go into any season thinking, 'I have to do this so I get my Emmy.' "I'm not overly protective of my character.

I allow him to be (a jerk) every once in a while because that's what makes him more interesting — because he has all these flaws.

A lot of people are like, 'My character wouldn't do that.' My character, on the other hand, would do that. He's very eccentric. That's what I love about him."

This past season, "Entourage" featured cameos from rapper 50 Cent, sports megastars Tom Brady and LeBron James, and actors Matt Damon and Zac Efron.

Who would Dillon most like to see appear on the show, which returns for a seventh season in summer 2010?

"This is crazy, but Barack Obama is supposedly a fan of the show," Dillon said. "If he could be on the show — like Vince (Chase) gets to meet the president — that would be the ultimate cameo. Of course, that will never happen."
