Today we salute our veterans and the families who support them. Advocate Ranging Reporter Erica Rodriguez was at Long Leaf Coffee Co. talking with customers about what we can do to honor our veterans more. Here's what you all had to say.
A: "I think we would do well if veterans returning home from combat would have the best healthcare coverage they can get."
Steve Jones, Victoria resident, FIS software manager
A: "There's probably a million things they could do, but I think taking care of the ones that get hurt - they could be putting more resources toward the wounded."
Doug Meis, Victoria resident, restoration
A: "Give more recognition to the veterans and the sacrifices that they make. I think people under appreciate the sacrifice of not being with the family and seeing their children grow up, not being there for their spouse or their immediate family."
Andy Lehrmae, Corpus Christi resident, attorney
A: "I think we should provide better medical care."
James Villafranca, lab supervisor, DuPont

All disabled vets should get the healthcare they need, even if the treatment is experimental. They should also have access to life insurance. I know disabled vets who aren't getting the care they need and their families have no security since they have pre-existing conditions and can't get any life insurance. How is that honoring our veterans?
