BERCLAIR - Deputies found about 30 pounds of marijuana at a rural Goliad County home Wednesday night when they arrived to serve a warrant.
Four men, who officials said were smoking the drug when they arrived, were arrested.
Goliad Sheriff Kirby Brumby said officers had a warrant to search the home of Encarnacio Hernandez, 37.
Encarnacio has been under investigation. Brumby would not elaborate on the details of the investigation, which he said is continuing.
The three others, all from Berclair, were also arrested on third-degree felony possession of marijuana charges. They are Jimmy Flores, 42; Alejandro Carbajal, 56; and Edolio Hernandez, 47.
The arrests occurred just before 9 p.m. when the sheriff, three deputies and two Department of Public Safety troopers arrived at the house.
The men remained in the county jail Thursday night.
The marijuana will be sent to the DPS crime lab in Corpus Christi for testing.
