Jackson County is hosting a few events this week and in the coming weeks to promote local holiday shopping. See Monday's Advocate for the complete story.

Advocate Ranging Reporter Erica Rodriguez was at Longleaf Coffee Co. in downtown Victoria, chatting with customers about the importance of shopping locally. Here's what you all had to say.

A: "It's very important to put more money back into the local economy, so that way we can build better streets and better facilities."

Leon Harris, Cuero resident, retired

A: "It's really important to shop locally, so the money stays in the community."

Chris Potts, audio video technician, The Victoria College

A: "It's important to shop locally, however we do need more variety in Victoria. People feel like they do need to go out of town because of the lack of the unique selection."

Janet Charbula, Victoria resident, Realtor, Coldwell Banker the Ron Brown Company

A: "I think it's exclusively important, because of the economy and also our shopping here is expanded greatly."

Jack Todd, Victoria resident, retired

A: "I think it's important, because we need to support our town whenever we can."

Donna Todd, Victoria resident, retired
