Victoria school board will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Education Center Board Room, 102 Profit Drive in Victoria.

Logos for the Victoria East Titans and Victoria West Warriors will be on display at the Victoria school district board meeting Thursday.

Earlier this school year, Herff Jones, the company that designs and distributes class rings and caps and gowns, gave both Memorial High School campuses some logo samples, said Senior Campus Principal Greg Crockett.

The art teachers from the Senior Campus and from the Stroman campus had students who will feed into the two new high schools, tweak and then vote on their favorite logo sample, Crockett said.

The most popular logo for each of the new high schools, set to be the chosen design on the gym floors, will be on display at the board meeting, Crockett said.

Other samples may be used as possible T-shirt, cap, helmet designs, and more, Crockett said.

In other business, the school board is expected to set a date to finalize the 2010-11 dress code.

The board expects to make a decision sometime in early December based on the results of parents' votes on the three dress code options provided.

The three options included: current dress code, standardized dress code and one with recommendations by the dress code committee, Nancy McCord, secondary schools assistant superintendent, said at the October board meeting.

Of the 3,357 parents who voted, 1,632 parents preferred to stick with the current dress code, 1,254 preferred the standardized dress code, and 471 selected the dress code committee's recommendation, McCord said.

McCord will present the dress code committee's recommendations to the board Thursday.
