Nov. 22 - Mr. and Mrs. F.B. Biebel and little daughter, of Colettoville, were crowded off the public road in the rear of Otto Fiek's residence Saturday afternoon by a couple of carriages containing a party of homeseekers. The Diebels were returning home from town. Their buggy turned over in the ditch on the right hand side of the road and threw them out, and their horse took fright and ran away, badly smashing up the vehicle.
Nov. 23 - A broken rail caused the rear coach of the incoming passenger train from Houston last night to leave the track about a mile from this city, the car running alongside the track for a distance of two blocks without overturning before the train was stopped. There were about eight passengers in it, but none was injured. The track was torn up for a short distance. The passengers were transferred to the smoker, and their train reached here after half an hour's delay.
Nov. 24 - A prominent local business man today predicted that unless our citizens get a move in themselves and display a great deal more enterprise and public spirit Bloomington and not Victoria will be the big city of this section of the state.
Nov. 26 - Mr. and Mrs. West of Gonzales, who are visiting the Kyles at Nursery, were hurt in a runaway in that neighborhood yesterday. They were driving from the Henry Kyle to the Irvin Kyle ranch when their horse got frightened at an automobile and ran away, smashing the buggy, and throwing both of the occupants out. Mrs. West formerly Miss Mattie Kyle, was quite seriously injured. The auto was D.H. Heaton's and was returning from this city to Cuero with Mr. and Mrs. Heaton as passengers.

Nov. 22 - Some time between 7:30 and 8:30 last night while the occupants were away, the home of Mr. and Mrs. George French was burglarized of jewelry and wearing apparel valued at $600 to $700. At the same hour a sedan owned by D.E. Blackburn was stolen, and the authorities have reason to believer that the party of parties guilty of the theft of the car also committed the burglary. The Balckburn car was found wrecked and abandoned in a highway ditch near Rockport early this afternoon.
Nov. 23 - D.E. Blackburn's sedan which was stolen while parked on West Constitution Street night before last and found wrecked and abandoned on the Rockport-Aransas Pass Highway, was driven back to Victoria by Deputy Sheriff W.F. Crawford last night. The Sheriff's Department today discarded its theory that the car theft was connected with burglary of the George H. French home the same night.
Nov. 25 - Miss Laura Mae Hauschild entertained with a beautifully appointed miscellaneous shower and bridle party Nov. 232, in her home in honor of Miss Madline Schuchert, whose marriage to A.J. Pollan of Austin will take place Nov. 30. Guests included the honoree, Misses Jeanette Sitterle, Bernice Fischer, Vivian Fullick, Sybil and Adrienne Wilde, Edith Jones, Lena Lois Griffith, Pauline Putney, Lucille Calhoun and Ann Wilden of Austin, and Mesdames Ruth Coffey Owens, Hilda Heard, J.D. Cohen and C.A. Schuchert.
Nov. 28 - The Dew Drop Inn, a restaurant and beer parlor on East Rio Grande Street, was burglarized of a quantity of merchandise last night. About 3:30 this morning three unidentified young men staged a holdup in Allen's Lunch Room on North Main Street but failed to secure anything of value.

Nov. 24 - Indictments based on 15 felony complaints submitted Monday are expected to be returned Wednesday by Victoria County Grand Jury. District Judge Howard P. Green empaneled the grand jury Monday for the six-month fall-winter term ending in April. Grand Jurors include Santiago Lopez, E.E. Hatchett, Mrs. R.D. Smith Jr., Louis Woehl, Marion Ohrt, Bruno Leita, Allen Sellers, C.R. Callis, Donovan White, Mrs. Earl W. Fischer, Fred Bearden and Joe T. Rendon.
Nov. 25 - Victoria Police chief Elmo Anderson caught a "boat load" of fish and three fisherman Saturday while fishing in the Carbide turn basin area it was disclosed Tuesday. Anderson said he was returning to shore "with my boat loaded" when a boat carrying three other fishermen capsized. The three, none of whom were good swimmers, were hanging onto the sinking boat when the police chief pulled in and helped them to shore.
Nov. 26 - Angeline Polk has been certified by the Daughters of the American Revolution as the outstanding "good citizen" among 1959-60 students of Victoria High School, for which she received a plaque. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Polk, Angeline is an honor student, member of the mixed choir and sextet, Student Council, Anchor Club and a lieutenant in the Victoriadores.

Nov. 22- When Victoria department and toy stores submitted their annual orders that jolly ol' elf Santa, they were basically unchanged form last year. Cabbage Patch Dolls are still number, one and no store in town can promise a steady supply. Also continuing at the to of the sales charts are Care Bears, Glowworms, Masters of the Universe figures, Tonka trucks and Barbie Dolls, according to managers at K-Mart and Gibson's.
Nov. 23 - Jan Lahodny knows how to mold a team. She's been in coaching since 1970 and in that time has compiled 380 wins and only '07 losses, an incredible 78.4 winning percentage.
Nov. 24 - With the opening of a new facility during the summer, overcrowding at Victoria County hjail has been eased. Chief Deputy Otto Kubecka said the current jail population, which averages around 6- inmates a day exceeds the maximum allowed in the old jail facility.
Nov. 25 - John M. Robert publisher and president of the Victoria Advocate will become president of Texas Daily Newspaper Association on Jan. 1.
Nov. 27 - Sheriff's investigators said Manuel Melvin "Sonny" Brannan, 33, of the Fordtran community, in northern Victoria County, was shot to death late Sunday night at the nearby residence of a half-brother. The half-brother, Terry Glen Brannan, 21, was arrested by sheriff's officers but was later released without a charge being filed.
