Police investigate a three-car wreck involving a patrol car.

A Victoria police officer was involved in a three-car wreck on Thursday afternoon.

A patrol vehicle collided with the passenger side of a silver Mazda RX 8 at the intersection of Laurent Street and Port Lavaca Drive.

Lt. Jason Cross said the Mazda then spun and hit a white GMC 1500 truck that was stopped at a red light.

An initial report from an eyewitness said that the officer had the green light and the Mazda came out of nowhere, Cross said.

The intersection was closed for about an hour while debris was cleared.

The officer and woman in the Mazda were transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

Additional information, including the names of those involved, was not available Thursday night.

You seem to believe that news organizations should be the public relations arm of the police force. Lord knows, VPD needs some help with their public relations with all the bad news coming out of the department.

rdela5, it sounds as if you are assuming the officer was at fault for the accident. It does not state that in the article. On the contrary, a witness reported the officer had a green light and was hit by the Mazda. I don't think this accident should be compared to any other until more information is known.

Oh, and thanks to the others for the giggle about teleportational abilities... :)

Hope the officer is okay. He should thank his lucky stars he didn't opt to be a motorcycle cop.
