Editor, the Advocate:
This is in regard to the Darfur benefit concert held on Saturday evening, Nov. 14, from 5-7 p.m. in the Memorial High School gym.
First of all, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the participating MHS club members, faculty, staff and students, the Victoria community, dancers, musicians and concert-goers. It was wonderful to see people enjoying the activities and listening to great music while supporting such a good cause.
To Brin Winterbottom, you did it! Your organizational skills and ideas about concert activities and musicians were remarkable. Thanks also to your wonderful family members who were out in force to support this effort!
To Gary Moses, thanks so much for being such a great emcee. Your work is always outstanding and we very much appreciate your presence at our event.
To Gloria Ballard, we are grateful for your willingness to educate us on the atrocities that have occurred and are ongoing in Darfur. Your speech was illuminating and further convinced us that this event was necessary and important.
Finally, I would like to thank Laura Campbell, who was the organizer of the first Darfur concert. Without your inspiration and guidance, we could neither have envisioned nor accomplished this. Mille mercis.
Rose Balboa, MHS French Club sponsor, Victoria
