Texas Women Air Force Service Pilots (WASP) of WWII honored

Eleanor "Mickey" Brown was honored along with other Texas Women Air Force Service Pilots (WASP) of WWII on Nov. 11, at Love Field in Dallas. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, sponsor of legislation awarding the Congressional Gold Medal to the WASP, spoke at the ceremony. President Obama signed the legislation awarding the Congressional Gold Medal to the WASP into Public Law on July 1. There will be a formal national awards ceremony for WASP in Washington, D.C., in 2010. The Congressional Gold Medal is the highest honor that Congress can bestow. Brown is shown above with a photo of herself during her time of service as a WASP.
