The Decora Study Club met Nov. 10, with second vice-president Lillian Alex presiding.

Hostess for the day was Margaret Phelps. Betty Marr led the collect. Alex led the pledge to the American flag and the Texas flag. Alex thanked Zada Watkins and Jacquie Fritz who served on the social committee. She also thanked Norma Franz and Eileen Fowler who served on the membership committee.

Helen Grant gave an update on members who are ill. The 37 members present were dressed in red, white and blue, in honor of Veterans Day.

Fritz, program chairman of the day, introduced the speaker, Debbie Durham, education coordinator for the Victoria Symphony. Durham began her presentation singing, along with the members, a tribute to our military.

Durham then gave a history of the Victoria Symphony Education Program beginning 20 years ago with the Discovery Concert series, including Peter and the Wolf concerts as well as the Symphonic Spooktacular and Downtown Rhythms. After receiving a grant from the Junior League, a musical petting zoo made its first appearance. She concluded her presentation relating future programs which include Building Blocks of the Orchestra for pre-k through third graders, a music resource library and the Victoria Symphony Youth Orchestra.
