Man struck crossing East Rio GrandeA man was transported to a local hospital Friday evening after he was struck by a car on East Rio Grande Street.

The man was walking south across the street when he was struck. He hit the hood and the windshield of the vehicle, a four-door hatchback and sustained "non-life-threatening injuries," according to police.

Police said a streetlight across from the H-E-B store on Rio Grande Street was off at the time of the incident, and the man was wearing dark clothing.

The name of the driver, pedestrian and hospital where he was admitted were not available late Friday.

  • I think I saw them putting up that orange netting stuff and putting signs stating that this crosswalk is closed until further notice..

  • It assumes to be the case now. No one walking is safe around this town! Good Lord. I fear it's just going to get worse. Please pay attention and be extra cautious people. That goes for the walker and the driver. Especailly at lights and stop signs! Good Lord...thats all I can think to say!

  • It is life threatening to walk on the streets of Victoria. How many is that in the last few weeks?
