Editor, the Advocate:

The Victoria Advocate Editorial Board is finally showing its colors concerning views on the sewer plant. They state: Why does the council worry about a few people who reside on the south part of town?

Let me tell you who the few people are.

One hundred and forty nuns and employees who live or work at the convent, the Boys and Girls Club, two elementary schools with hundreds of kids and teachers, two RV parks where the people from up north come and stay during the winter months, two Catholic churches with hundreds of worshippers and numerous other black churches where a lot of people worship, about four eating facilities and close to 2,000 people who live around this area.

Does this sound like a few to you?

The mayor is trying to force the council to vote for the sewer plant. He knew that a sewer plant was needed since 2004.

He wants to pay $4,500 an acre for land that might be worth $1,000 per acre.

We have a lot of confidence that David Hagan, Denise Rangel, Gabriel Solis and Joe Truman have a conscience and will stand by their vote and look at other options.

Henry Perez, Victoria
