Editor, the Advocate:
Let's face the way people are acting about government.
Our government is great, but the people who oppose it don't want big government because they then swindle the government, and people who they do business with get away because government is small and can pull tricks in their favor to keep it from functioning like government.
They are selfish people and not worth what they preach.

Thats incredible! wanting less control of my life from big brother is now selfish. Where did he come up with this? He obviously has no clue on what he is talking about? The only thing big government does is create more government to crush the people with. No thanks the smaller the govt is the better as seen by what the government is trying to do to us now. the only thing i want from our government is to be allowed to keep what i earn and spend it where I see fit. The only change we will get from the current government is what little change they let us keep in our pockets!!!!
November 22, 2009 at 11:31 p.m.selfish government wants big government!
November 22, 2009 at 1:48 p.m.And what government program is Fred getting assistance from?
November 22, 2009 at 8:50 a.m.Fred clearly doesn't have an understanding of the tendencies of the varying sizes of govt. With smaller govt, there's less to be "swindled" because they are leaner & more transparent, and spending is more closely scrutinized out of necessity. With bigger budgets and tax & spend policies, cronyism is much more likely because there's a bigger pot from which to "swindle". Those who promote bigger govt usually have something to gain personally.
Fred should re-examine his logic.
November 21, 2009 at 12:35 a.m.Huh! Never heard that view point before. No the real reason is that with a small government (less people) --you pay less money out of your pocket (taxes) to keep those people in their offices and pay for the computers, desks, paper, electricity, medical insurance, vacations (which you may never get to have), maternity leave (which you man not get), free cars to drive to work and other freebees all paid with from the dollars taken out of your paycheck in the name of taxes or paid out in the name of property taxes, personal taxes such as for automobiles, licenses plates, etc.
The smaller (less people) that are in the government offices ----the more money in MY pocket. Now if that is selfish that I want more money to feed my children, put a roof on my house because it is leaking, put tires on my car so I don't kill my family, help my mother, try to pay for some type of medical insurance and pay doctors and hospitals what ever I can when insurance does not pay and hope I save enough money to bury myself and spouse ---if that is selfish, then yes I am.
I have no tricks to play on the people in the government offices. I just pray everyday I have money in my pocket so I can take care of my family. Smaller government is one way to help me reach that goal.
