A man is in the Victoria County jail after being suspected of firing shots at a local nightclub.
Joshua Thomas Domingue, 24, of Victoria was arrested on suspicion of deadly conduct discharge of a firearm, according to the police report released Sunday.
Officers arrived at Cactus Canyon, 3613 N. Navarro St., about 2 a.m. Sunday after Jeff Cowan, a Victoria fire marshal, reported the incident. Cowan had several subjects on the ground and his gun drawn when police arrived.
Robert Dillander, a manager for the bar, told police Domingue had pointed the handgun into the crowd and then fired a series of shots in the air. The gun was located in the front seat of the truck Domingue was riding in. He was arrested by Senior Patrol Officer Joe Valadez.

November 25, 2009 at 10:31 a.m.How many bar owners have shuttered their establishments due to the actions of young, hot tempered, drunk Latinos?
November 24, 2009 at 7:15 a.m.What does gangbangers have to do with what happened at Cactus? This guy had a permit, gangbangers don't need no permit. Cactus has always been a place of young stupid adults venting their macho ways but only difference from gangbangers and young adult rednecks is there isn't any difference. HA HA This is what happens when you have a corporate run club and not a private run one. The fight escalates much more than it has to due to that the problem isn't taken care off as it happens. The rent a cops can not use physical force as it can be used in a private runned establishment they have to evaluate the problem then take the problem outside then call the local PD by this time a lot can happen. Maybe the establishment has to be closed down for a while and re-evaluate on how much one had to much to drink to turn into superman. Most of your problems is due to individuals consuming to much alcohol and thus results to duhhhhhhhh.
November 23, 2009 at 10:15 p.m.Oh and by the way his gun is legal...
November 23, 2009 at 7:16 p.m.Holly I will have to say that yes I was there the night this all happened and the young man was in his car with a few others when about twenty young men attacked their vehicle and one of the people that was in the vehicle decided to get out and he was attacked. The young man who shot the gun fired shots into the air so that the young men would get off of the one man, but unfortunately when they saw that he was shooting into the air they continued fighting and it goes on. Why didnt the police allow them to tell their side of what really happened instead they were told to shut up.
November 23, 2009 at 7:15 p.m.They still play country music? Thought it was all rap
November 23, 2009 at 2:51 p.m.I didn't know "She thinks My Tractor's Sexy" would get the thugs riled up.

November 23, 2009 at 1:57 p.m.Holly1 "In the old days a citizen could carry anywhere they pleased. Crime rates were much lower. The criminals knew if they pulled a gun they would most likely be shot. All these new gun RESTRICTING laws protect the criminal a heck of a lot more than the law abiding citizens. Pretty soon the only people carrying guns will be the thugs and oh yeah the cops who protect us. I say let me protect myself. I trust myself more than the cops for my protection"

November 23, 2009 at 10:51 a.m.that's why I stay out of all nite clubs, bars and anything else that has to do with crazy people. Its sad that Victoria has become so violent... Todays Kids have no morales...
November 23, 2009 at 10:23 a.m.Another example of Victim Disarmament Zones and the promotion of public safety...
November 23, 2009 at 9:30 a.m.Probably a result of the gangbangers moving into Cactus. They tend to come in a ruin every place for everybody.
November 23, 2009 at 7:04 a.m.They hire Goliad deputies

November 23, 2009 at 1:17 a.m.I'm sure there was a women involved, no offense women, but sounds like a drunk on a mission. If he wanted to die that night he could have easily done that. Can't fix stupid.
November 23, 2009 at 1 a.m.Seriousbizness,
November 22, 2009 at 11 p.m.There are actually three sides to every story; 1st side, 2nd side, and the truth.
He broke the law well before he even fired the gun. Even if he was attacked, we’re talking a couple punches and then the bouncers throw them out. I wasn’t there, thank God, but really…? Firing a series of shots in the air at a nightclub? If he was attacked, I find it hard to believe that his life was ever in danger unless the attacker also had a gun which the story does not reflect. I’m glad you’re, “not trying to find excuses for him.”
attacked by whom? this was not in the article. were you there? Or just repeating hearsay. why did he not just leave like a normal person would have. He chose to get a gun, most likely illegal, and put the lives of others at risk. He should go to jail for a long time. He is very lucky he was not shot and killed by the marshall or police.
November 22, 2009 at 10:57 p.m.I wonder if they’ll amend the dress code? Are Kevlar vests now acceptable? Can you starch and iron Kevlar? Do I have to tuck in my Kevlar vest?
November 22, 2009 at 10:33 p.m.Always know that there are two sides to every story. I'm not trying to find an excuse or even make one for the man. You just can't always go on just one side of a story. This young man was attacked, it does not give him the right to do what he did but lets be real here.
November 22, 2009 at 10:32 p.m.where is a cop when you need one? Chasing the people not wearing their seatbelts and for having a lisence plate bulb out. thats where
November 22, 2009 at 10:21 p.m.Great job, Jeff!! Knew this was coming with the closing of Roberto's!!

November 22, 2009 at 10:09 p.m.No hats, shirts have to have collars but guns are okay.
November 22, 2009 at 10:04 p.m.I agree Holly1 about the one less thug and expense. Unfortunately no legal gun owner would be carrying in Dirty Canyon. Even concealed handgun license holders are prohibited from entering a 51% establishment with a handgun. 51% is that or more of their income derived from the sale of alcoholic beverages.
November 22, 2009 at 9:58 p.m.Thank you Jeff Cowan!
Imagine the irony if this would have happened at Shooters…
sounds like attempted murder to me. string him up in front of courthouse with his pistol tucked into his belt. let him swing for 3 or 4 days.
November 22, 2009 at 9:24 p.m.You just can't fix stupid.
November 22, 2009 at 9:01 p.m.As my momma used to say..."nothing good happens after 11:00 p.m.". Good job Joe, grave yard shifts can be full of knuckleheads, can't they?!
November 22, 2009 at 8:20 p.m.X
who was the gun registered to? if they can't explain why this thug had their gun than they should be charged too. I'm sure the thug did not buy it on the up and up. Just one more illegal gun used to terrorize all us legal gun owners and law abiding citizens. Maybe if a legal gun owner would have been there carrying a gun there would be one less thug running loose or being jailed at our expense.
November 22, 2009 at 8:18 p.m.This happened outside I hope......
November 22, 2009 at 6:54 p.m.WHAT AN IDIOT!
