Q: My daughter is not sure what she wants to do after high school, but I really want her to go to college. I'm not sure where to get information about college, though. Can you help?

A: You and your daughter should join The Victoria College for College Night 2009 from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, in the VC Sports Center.

All VC transfer students and local high school students and their parents are encouraged to attend the event to get information about admissions, financial aid and transfer options offered by nearly 40 different Texas colleges and universities, including Texas A&M, the University of Texas, the University of Houston system, Sam Houston State University, Texas Tech University and many others.

VC sponsors College Night every year to give high school students easy access to college information. This event gives students and their parents the opportunity to visit with representatives from many Texas colleges and universities all in the same evening.

Many students begin their education at VC and then intend to transfer to pursue their goal of earning a bachelor's degree, so College Night is the perfect venue to get all the information necessary.

And since VC is also a College Night participant, this is a great opportunity for you to learn more about all the great programs at VC as well.

We want to make sure that all students have access to information about every option available to help them achieve their educational goals.

VC offers more than 40 programs of study and transfer plans leading to a variety of associate degrees and transfer options, plus you can get information about all of our Career and Technical and Allied Health programs that allow students to enter the workforce right away.

Do you have a question about The Victoria College? Contact Katy Long, writer/photographer, at 361-573-3291 Ext. 3408 or www.victoriacollege.edu.

  • poor planning somewhat! Its on a UIL night and wandering if the basketball people will attend. Maybe the Coach will give an 'excuse' to go? You can't please all but remember its for the kids. In the smaller towns they play football, basketball back to back. Good idea though.
