Grammy-nominated choral ensemble Conspirare and Texas Music Hall of Fame inductee Patrice Pike are combining forces to bring a holiday concert to Victoria.

Pike, an Austin-based musician, will be the guest artist at the annual Conspirare concert "Christmas at the Carillon," which will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.

Led by Conspirare conductor Craig Hella Johnson, the concert blends hymns, chants, carols, popular songs and audience participation to put people in the holiday mood, according to a news release.

Known for its collage technique and improvisational style, the Conspirare holiday concerts began in 1996 and typically are sold out.

The 2009 concert program includes the best of American and international compositions, according to the news release.

Pike swept the 2007 Austin Music Awards, winning Musician of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Female Vocalist, among other awards. She is also the youngest person ever inducted into the Texas Music Hall of Fame, according to the news release.

Conspirare is in its 18th performance season. Its 2006 CD "Requiem" received two 2007 Grammy Award nominations, Best Choral Performance and Best Engineered Album, Classical. The ensemble's 2008 CD release, "Threshold of Night," was also nominated for two Grammy Awards, Best Choral Performance and Best Classical Album, according to the news release.
