Edna man charged with murder in death of wife

James Donald Kirk Jr., 45, of Edna, was arrested and charged with murder in the early Monday morning death of his wife,
Wendy Smiga Kirk, 37.
Wendy Kirk was found dead in the bedroom of their home, 1121 N. Kleas St. at 4:12 a.m. Monday, an Edna police investigator said.
James Kirk called the Edna Police Department to report the death. He was arrested at the home, the investigator said.
Jackson County Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 Bobby Doelitsch set bail at $250,000.
The couple married in 1995 and have two children.
Wendy Kirk, a registered nurse, worked at the Southbrook Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Edna as the director of nursing.
