Two escape injury in near collisionA motorcyclist spilled over onto the Houston Highway Wednesday afternoon after he applied his brakes to avoid hitting a car.
Officer Hershel Buck said the two never hit each other.
No one was injured, he said.
Gabriel Martinez of Victoria was traveling west on Houston Highway in his Mitsubishi Eclipse, when he applied his brakes to turned into a car wash, crossing the intersection,
This caused Ismael Castillo of Victoria, who was traveling east on his motorcycle, to also brake.

Did you almost hit him with a car or a cart?
November 27, 2009 at 4:03 p.m.Has anyone in Victoria ever been ticketed for talking on their cell phone while driving? IMHO they are much more dangerous than drunk drivers.
November 27, 2009 at 12:50 p.m.A near miss, a chicken story, and the poor whopping cranes going crabless. And i just sent the Advocate another $156.00 for another year of this. Please advocate, take your reporters out of cafes, asking stupid questions and report some news. Hint: purchase a police scanner. I cant believe furthurs comment was deleted. How about digging into just what , KEEP VICTORIA BEAUTIFUL, does with the tax money city council just gave them. Havent seen to much activity by them in my part of town.
November 27, 2009 at 7:26 a.m.Does this go under another wreck saved or created?
November 26, 2009 at 7:57 p.m.Now "near misses" are going to be recorded in the paper? Heck, they would have about 6 stories a day just following me around!
Friday's Headline. Cell Phone Users Almost Cause 1000 Accidents A Day on Navarro.
November 26, 2009 at 9:43 a.m.To me, this story comes in second place. First place goes to sending a reporter on a 100 mile roundtrip to cover 'Chickengate'.
November 26, 2009 at 9:35 a.m.They need to stand outside Wal-Mart early this Friday morning. Im sure they will have plenty to write about.
November 26, 2009 at 6:05 a.m.furthur,
You have just taken over first place position for the funniest post of 2009.
I almost quit reading it, thinking that it was "just another Vicad bashing" post. I'm so glad I decided to finish it.
I'm crying here, I'm laughing so hard!!!
