Many counties in the Crossroads were hit with heavy rains and isolated thunderstorms Saturday afternoon.

Severe thunderstorms that moved through Jackson and Wharton Counties produced a possible tornado. A tornado warning was issued for the area at about 3 p.m. and expired at about 4 p.m. A possible touchdown was spotted two miles north of Ganado, according to a storm report issued by the National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston.

Damaging winds blew over a few trees and four power poles, according to the report.

The Victoria airport recorded .91 inches of rain, said Tawnya Evans, a forecaster for the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi.

The wet weather was caused by a warm front that pushed through the area, she said.

The warm front, in conjunction with an upper level disturbance, brought rains through most of South Texas, she added.

Victoria has a 60 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms for Sunday. Several severe thunderstorms, which could produce damaging winds and hail, could be isolated within these pockets of rain, Evans said.
