Marcia Marie Salazar and Virgil T. Thompson Jr., both of Spring, were married October 3, 2009, at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral in Victoria. Rev. Msgr. Michael Harrold officiated the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. Thomas F. Salazar and Mr. and Mrs. Humberto De La Garza Jr., all of Victoria. She is the granddaughter of Mary De La Garza of Port Lavaca and the late Anita and Joe P. Salazar, Carmen and Inez Valderrama, and Humberto De La Garza, Sr.
The groom is the son of Ms. Mary Thompson of Houston and Mr. Virgil T. Thompson Sr. of Columbus. He is the grandson of Georgia Mae Strambler of La Grange and the late Isiah Strambler, Will and Princetta Thompson.
Lori Kananen attended as matron of honor. Jessica Stapp attended as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Crystal Salazar, Sonia Salazar, La Shawntae Davis, Elenne Valladares, and Veronica Alvarado.
Emily Thompson and Bella Salazar attended as flower girls. Isaiah Salazar served as ring bearer.
Rodney Alexander and Brodrick Glenn served as best men. Groomsmen were Eric Brown, Greg Thomas, Jarvis Vaughns, Brandon Strambler, and Brice Jones.
Ushers were Anita Salazar, Thomas V. Salazar, Alfredo Salazar, and Chris De La Garza. Lecturer was Marisol Valderrama.
A reception was held following the ceremony at the Westerner Club in Victoria. Following wedding travel to San Juan, Puerto Rico, the couple will reside in Spring.
The bride is a 1993 graduate of Stroman High School and a 2002 graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio with a BA in Communications. She is employed by National Oilwell Varco in Houston as project manager.
The groom is a 1995 graduate of Madison High School in Houston and a 1999 graduate of the University of Texas Pan America with a BS in Computer Science. He is a Veteran of the United States Army, and a former Paratrooper and Ranger. The groom is employed by LCRA in LaGrange as plant operator.
