It is Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, - Turkeyfest weekend!

As a former Cuero resident, I know it's an exciting time as the town's annual fall festival kicks off tonight and runs through Sunday.

If you've never seen the Great Gobbler Gallop (grown people acting the fool chasing turkeys down the street), then Saturday morning in Cuero is the place to be. Also check out this year's lineup of talented musicians.

Enough about that. Go if you can.

Today's question of the day deals somewhat with Saturday's National Night Out kickoff party at Victoria Mall from noon until 4 p.m.

Do you think programs like National Night Out and Neighborhood Watch have an affect on crime in neighborhoods?

We'd like to know.

I'll be at Halepaska's Bakery until 9 a.m. then at the Kountry Bakery in Hallettsville until 11. Stop by and let me know what you think.

See you soon.

  • Everyone responsible citizen should apply for a CCW. This is the one sure way to isure safety for the citizens.

  • An armed citizen can make a difference -- and it happens more often than many people realize.

Do the research and check it out for yourself.

Unfortunately, due to a liberal bias in most news reporting agencies, these stories never seem to surface. When they do, they're either buried in a one-column grave on the back page or simply get overlooked in the broadcast arena.

But if a gun is used in the commission of a crime, the story gets repeatedly splattered all over the evening news and on the front page of major dailies.
