Texas Lutheran University linebacker Trey Parma (39) tracks down a ball carrier earlier this season. Parma, a Yorktown graduate, has 12 tackles through the first five games this season.

1 blocked kick
Trey Parma never imagined his season would start out like this.
Parma, a Yorktown graduate and sophomore at Texas Lutheran University, sprained his MCL in his right knee on a chop block in last Saturday's loss to Sul Ross. The injury will sideline Parma on Saturday as his team looks for its first win of the season at Incarnate Word.
"There have been some ups and downs this season and it's been pretty hard not winning a game yet," said Parma, whose TLU team is 0-5 overall and 0-4 in American Southwest Conference play. "I think we should be getting one pretty soon. We just have to stop turning the ball over our defense has to go out and make a statement like we did last year. I'm just working hard to get back on the field so I can help out the team."
Parma has played in all five games this season for TLU and has recorded 12 tackles. The 6-foot, 220 pound linebacker also has two pass breakups and a blocked field goal in his second year at the Seguin university.
"I just try to go out focused and make plays on the field when I get in there," Parma said. "I've gotten faster and stronger since high school and think I'm coming along. I've been making good reads and more efficiently."
Parma is coming off a 25-tackle freshman season and is two years removed from being a first-team All-District 29-2A running back in Yorktown. He is currently a pre-engineering major but said he is considering changing to accounting.
