The descendants of Anastacio and Maria Landa Veliz held their 2009 family reunion on Oct. 10, at Fossati's Park. The Veliz children are Catarino, Apolonio, Maria, Vidala, Petra, Aurora, Anastacia and Gregoria Veliz. One-hundred five members attended this year's reunion.
The reunion was held in memory of the recently deceased members, Robert Gomez Geliz and Juan Veliz Perales.
The member traveling farthest was Stella R. Veliz of Liberty Hill. The youngest member, 3-month-old Jacob Escalante Martinez of Bloomington.
The families shared a meal and played games.
The chairpersons for this year's reunion were Irene Garcia-Montes and Vidala Veliz Trevio of Victoria. The 2010 reunion is to be held at Fossati's Park in Victoria.
