Pat and Gladys Welfl of Victoria celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on November 14, 2009. A special blessing was given at Holy Family Catholic Church. Their children hosted a reception.

Gladys Shimek and Pat Welfl were married November 14, 1959 at St. Philip's Catholic Church in El Campo. The couple have 3 children: Vicki Adair of Pflugerville, Sandi Copes of Pearland, and Wade Welfl of Victoria. They also have 7 grandchildren: Chase, Austin and Aueri Adair, Trevor and Hayden Cole, Will and Kaden Copes.

Pat retired from Union Carbide. He volunteers at Hospice and Christ Kitchen. Gladys is a retired LVN. She volunteers at Hospice and First United Methodist Church, Patient Assistance Program, and enjoys reading. Pat and Gladys are members of Holy Family Catholic Church in Victoria.
