Melissa S. Herring and Adrian Scott Cannady, both of Victoria, were married at 4 p.m. on October 24, 2009 at the College Church of Christ in Victoria. Retired U.S. Army Major Will Evans of Maryland officiated the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Sue Ellen Herring of Rockport, formerly of Victoria and the late Michael D. Herring. She is the granddaughter of Melba Bettis of Odessa and the late Wallace Herring of Olando, Fla., and the late Ronnie and Myrtle Goode of Edna. The bride is the great-granddaughter of Opal Johnson of Odessa.
The groom is the son of George W. and Helen Cannady of Victoria. He is the grandson of Ora Lee Littles of Goliad and the late Ray Dee Littles Sr., and the late Margaret Cannady Terry of Westhoff.
The bride was escorted down the aisle by her son, Dylan Herring. Kristen Hill attended as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Emily Gower, Jessica Kolle, Kristen Dennis, and Dawn Villarreal. Junior bridesmaid was Allena Cannady, niece of the groom.
Emmalee Harris, niece of the bride, attended as flower girl. Jarius Stewart, cousin of the groom, served as ring bearer.
Jeff Cannady, brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Joseph Ceasar, Wesley Kolle, Corey Dennis, and Corey Boucher. Junior groomsman was Trent Knetig.
Ushers were Dr. Aaron Muegge and Jason Kramer.
A reception was held following the ceremony at Olde Victoria at the Oak Room in Victoria. Following wedding travel to Rome, Italy, the couple will reside in Victoria.
The bride is a 2006 graduate of the University of Houston-Victoria with a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. She is employed by First Victoria as a Financial Accountant and Bank Officer.
The groom attended the United States Military Academy in West Point, N.Y. before graduating from the University of Houston-Victoria in 2001 with a Bachelors in Mathematical Science, and in 2008 with a Masters of Science in Economic Development and Entrepreneurship Degree. Adrian also graduated from the University of Oklahoma's Economic Development Institute in 2006. He is employed as the Vice President of Marketing at the Victoria Economic Development Corporation.
