Patricia Heaton's new sitcom, "The Middle," is set in the fictitious (we think) town of Orson, Ind. Here are five other series that have called the Hoosier State home:
"One Day at a Time" (CBS, 1975-84) — Bonnie Franklin starred as a single mom living with two teenage daughters (Valerie Bertinelli, Mackenzie Phillips) in an Indianapolis apartment.
"Breaking Away" (ABC, 1980-81) — The sitcom, based on the popular movie, was set at the University of Indiana in Bloomington. Cast included Shaun Cassidy and Jackie Earle Haley.
"Eerie, Indiana" (NBC, 1991-92) — Spooky comedy-drama about a mysterious town as seen through the eyes of a 13-year-old (Omri Katz).
"The Jeff Foxworthy Show" (ABC, 1995-96; NBC, 1996-97) — The redneck comic starred as a family guy who ran his own heating and air-conditioning business in Bloomington. (When the series moved to NBC, the locale was shifted to Georgia, which seemed to better fit Foxworthy's personality.)
"Parks and Recreation" (NBC, 2009-) — Pawnee's wacky civil servants, especially deputy director of P&R Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler), try to make things better for the town's citizens.
