Ranging Reporter Erica Rodriguez stopped into Ramsey's today to talk about last week's balloon boy hoax. The Larimer County Sheriff's Office will be filing charges against the family who invented the hoax. That had hoped it would land them a spot on a reality TV show.
So our question for today is as follows: Are reality TV shows to blame for incidents like the balloon boy hoax?
Here's what you all had to say:
A: "I think it is kind of to blame sometimes. The crazier they are the more crazy things people will do to try to get on."
Josh Arias, Edna resident, head cook
A: "Oh yeah, because everybody wants their 15 minutes of fame no matter what it is."
Patsy Cates, Victoria resident, certified nurse assistant, Twin Pines
A: "No, I don't think the reality shows are to blame. It's the dad and the momma and the crazy kid."
Cecilia Orozco, Edna resident, custodial worker
A: "Probably in that specific case, yes, because that's what they were aiming for. Reality shows are just that, they're shows."
Tillman Hale, Victoria resident, retired public school administrator

Great place to start to make an example of hoaxes like this....costing taxpayers money, keeping emergency responders busy with this instead of helping someone who is really in need...awful and unlawful.
