Last week's incident with the hot air balloon and the boy, raises the question about the role of reality television in our society.

Do reality television shows help cause incidents like the balloon hoax?

What do you think? We'd like to know. I'll be at the Hardback Cafe inside Hastings until 9 p.m., then at the Main Street Kaffee Haus in Cuero until 11. Stop by and let me know what you think.

See you soon.

  • How can we blame reality TV? The ugly truth of it all is that stupid, wasteful, and slimey stuff like this is what sells...whether on reality type shows or 24 hour "news" channels, or talk show hype...as long as society's morals as a whole continue to "tune in" to things like this...tv, mags, news programs, newspapers, and networks will continue to flood the public with these folks "15 min. of fame." My personal favorite are those "news" networks like HN and others that run with something like this, or "octo-mom" or "Jon and Kate + 8" etc. by pointing out the sheer audacity of these kinds of stunts while raking in the bucks as John Q Public tunes in. If we want it to change...WE have to tune out!

  • People are to blame, even though there are many people that make bad choices that seek to blame others, most people are not that low to blame others, in that group of most people they would not do something that gross, nor appear on a reality show to look stupid or worse yet make their children look bad, thank God!
