Mind the boat.
It's for the Hallettsville High School band halftime show.
The band is doing a "Pirates of the Caribbean" theme this year.
"We have a ship on the field," said Colin Chichurka, the band's director for the past two years. "Our color guard picks up the sails and it looks like the ship is moving."
In September, the band placed second overall at the Blinn College Marching Festival, and the drumline received best in class, Chichurka said.
Saturday, the band will compete in the UIL area competition in Georgetown, he said.
"This is the first year in a long time that the band has made it to a UIL area competition," he said. "They put forth 110 percent every day. That sets them apart from most."
