  • I live in a small town outside Victoria and there are no leash laws at all here. I have the same problem with trash. Not only the dogs but the out of control cat population. They shred everything. They drag things off. My kids will take off their shoes to jump on the trampoline and while they are jumping a stray will steal their shoe. Then I have to drive around looking for it in ditches. At any given moment there are upwards of 20 strays wandering around this tiny town. Plus all the dogs that have homes but are not kept in them. I am an animal lover and growing up I never would have imagined harming an animal. But these dogs in this town have changed my point of view. I realize it is not their fault they were dumped, but it is not mine either. Sometimes a dead dog is easier to clean up then the trash they shred. *sigh*

  • Stray dogs? That has become a part of life in my neighborhood. I live in Quail Creek (the mobile home part) and we have stray dogs EVERYWHERE.

You cannot walk down the street or go to your vehicle without a stray dog barking at or chasing you. They chew up the trash, chase my cats, annoy my FENCED dogs, and poo in my yard. They eat the at food, shred garbage around the neighborhood, chase kids, chase cars, and basically do whatever they want to do. There are weinie dogs, rat dogs, bull dogs, pit bulls, and numerous mutts that run the street looking for trouble.

Surprisingly enough, no one seems to claim these dogs or get in trouble for them running loose and causing trouble in the neighborhood.....

    BUT

I get a nasty letter in the mail because my grass is taller than 9 inches or the ditches are weed-eated. I get a letter in the mail if my porch is "cluttered" or there is trash in the yard. TRASH THAT THE DOGS CHEWED UP! Why is it more important that my grass be less than 9 inches tall if I can't let my 4 year old go play because of all the stray dogs running around with no telling what. I can't even let her play in the front yard without fearing that a dog will bite her and give her a disease and a life long fear of dogs.

Also, while I'm on the subject of Quail Creek, let me point out one more thing. Next time you drive through our neighborhood that lets dogs run stray but threatens to sue you for grass over 9 inches tall, look at the "public areas" in the neighborhood. Not only is the fire department in need of a good weed-eating, the "park" is well over 9 inches tall and all of the vacant lots throughout the neighborhood are an excellent place to find snakes or rodents in the 3 foot tall grass!

Get it together Quail Creek and get your priorities straight!

Love your pet and keep them safe. Do not let them run wild and cause problems!

  • The yard spoilers might not be loose dogs at all, for every person I have seen walking their dog with a bag, I have probably seen 10 who weren't.

BTW, just driving by the hike and bike trail crossings, are those free doggie doody bags offered in the green container things? If so, it's a great idea.

  • Yep, I live in Bell tower and a (neighbors down the way)dog runs loose all the time and takes a large crap in my yard.

  • It is a problem where I live. They get into my trash, so many times I CAN'T put the trash out the night before and I always forget to take it out the next day so I am stuck with the trash in my house until the next trash pick up, SO ANNOYING! I can not stand it I walk in my yard and step in dog poop! People that have an animal need to keep them in THEIR YARD or in THEIR HOUSE!

  • A few years back, we had a problem with some strays in our neighborhood. There were 3 dogs that would poop in your yard, turn over trash cans and just generally cause trouble. Never gave it much thought until I walked out my back door one night and the largest one was on my back porch after crawling under the fence. He growled and snapped at me.

After that evening, he never bothered anyone else. Keep em close or wave bye-bye.

  • There are some i my nieghborhood that think it's a great idea to turn their dog loose. Funny thing is I find dog crap in my front yard. The not so funny part is, I never see the dog that does it.

I guess the people that do this think to themselves, "Wow, our dog never craps"!

  • I used to live in the country next to a cattle ranch and we took care of strays with a 22 caliber rifle! one time a pack of strays had a calf in their grip but my trusty 22 saved it's life!

  • I live in the country, if a stray dog comes up to my house. I set the critter trap, then take it to the pound. If I kept all the stray dogs and cats people throw out on country roads, I would have a thousand. People need to take care of their pets, not get a puppy which gets big, then they cannot handle it.
