BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — The rock band 10,000 Maniacs is helping out a western New York art park severely damaged by flooding last summer.
The band will perform at a benefit being held Saturday at the Essex Art Center in Buffalo. The center is home to the Ashford Hollow Foundation, which owns the Griffis Sculpture Park located in rural Cattaraugus County, 40 miles south of Buffalo.
In August, flooding caused by torrential rain damaged sections of the 400-acre park, home to more than 200 sculptures.
The Ashford Hollow group says it had to repair roads and trails so vehicles and hikers could tour the park. Funds raised during the concert will go toward covering those costs.
10,000 Maniacs was formed in 1981 in Jamestown. The band's hits include 1993's "Because The Night" and 1988's "What's The Matter Here."
