Season Opener
Jan. 29 Northwood University, DH, at Riverside Stadium
The University of Houston-Victoria will open the 2010 baseball season on Friday, Jan. 29 with a doubleheader against Northwood University at Riverside Stadium.
The Jaguars released their schedule for the upcoming season and it includes 17 home dates.
UHV will open the season with three games against Northwood before concluding the weekend homestand with a Sunday afternoon game against Southwestern University.
LSU-Shreveport and Wayland Baptist University, who were both ranked in last season's NAIA poll, will make their first visit to Riverside Stadium this season.
The Jaguars will play a doubleheader at Texas A&M-Kingsville on Feb. 5. The Javelinas will come to Riverside Stadium for a single game on March 23.
"We're bringing more games to Victoria and playing more games than ever before, while bringing in different opponents," UHV head coach Terry Puhl said.
The Jaguars planned fall scrimmage against Alvin Community College scheduled for Wednesday at Riverside Stadium has been canceled, according to UHV Director of Athletics Ashley Walyuchow.
Season tickets for the Jaguars' home games are on sale at the UHV athletic office at 3007 N. Ben Wilson. Reserved seats for all 28 home games are $170. Tickets may also be purchased by phone at 361-570-4336.
