REFUGIO - A small passenger airplane carrying a pilot and two passengers overshot the Rockport Airport on Wednesday and landed on a private ranch near the Mission River in Refugio County.

The pilot, Souphaph Phonpthaasa, of Hamilton, was forced to land the plane after he missed the airport by 17 miles, said Sheldon Wiginton, Refugio County Sheriff's Office chief deputy.

The pilot and his two passengers were not injured and the plane suffered no damage, Wiginton said.

Phonpthaasa and his passengers were coming from Fort Worth.
