Incarnate Word Convent in Victoria will open its doors to the community through a new center, Amor Meus.
"The Amor Meus Spirituality Center came through a decision that the sisters made to find the spiritual needs of the people of the area, and how can we better serve them through our incarnation spirituality," said Sister Emilie Eilers, with Incarnate Word Convent.
The Amor Meus, meaning "my love" in Latin, offers a place for silent retreats, prayer and personal reflection for people to experience.
"There's so little of the quiet that they can find in their working-day world," Eilers said. "Our convent has the spaces to offer that and the grounds and the nature that they can enjoy."
The center will host its first retreat on Saturday, Nov. 7. The event will include prayer and Bible readings.
