Service for San Antonio woman hit with brick

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — A San Antonio woman died nearly three months after being hit in the head with a brick in an alleged attack by her boyfriend.

A service was planned Tuesday for 53-year-old Rosalinda Vega, who police say was struck May 31. Vega, who had been in a coma, died Thursday.

Terrence Fletcher was jailed on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, with bail set at $75,000. Fletcher, 33, arrested June 13, was held without bail on a federal parole violation charge.

Police say the charge against Fletcher could be upgraded since Vega's death.

A Bexar (BAYR) County Detention Center clerk told The Associated Press that Fletcher was in the La Salle County Jail, due to overcrowding at the lockup in San Antonio.

An attorney for Fletcher did not immediately comment.
