Joe Jon Finley and Blake Schlueter will start the NFL season on their respective team's practice squad.

Finley, a tight end, has been re-signed by the San Francisco 49ers, and Schlueter, a center, has signed with the Seattle Seahawks.

Finley, the son of Memorial coach Mickey Finley, was on the 49ers' practice squad last season after signing with the team as a free agent out of Oklahoma.

He made four catches for 37 yards during the preseason before being waived by the team last week.

Center Cody Wallace, who was a junior high teammate of Finley's at Cuero, before attending Texas A&M, is a member of the 49ers' 53-man roster.

Schlueter, a Ganado graduate, was an all-Mountain West Conference center at TCU before being drafted last spring by the Denver Broncos in the seventh round.

Schlueter played in an exhibition game against the Seahawks before being waived by the Broncos last week.
