CUERO - Daryl Fowler has stepped down as chairman of the DeWitt County Republican Party.
Fowler, 52, of Yoakum, will seek the office of DeWitt County Judge in March. He has served as the chairman of the DeWitt County Republican Party for eight years. Fowler has been active in DeWitt County politics since 1988 when he was elected a director of the DeWitt County Taxpayers League, according to a news release from the county Republican Party.
Katherine Reilly, of Cuero, was appointed by the county party's executive committee to complete Fowler's term that expires on April 28. Filing for county begins in December.
