The last I heard, ER Nurses and Doctors can not even ask if a person seeking treatment is legal/illegal.
September 13, 2009 at 1:09 p.m.Suzy is correct, that is an area that does need addressing. It is not only illegals that are clogging our ERs. My husband who works in a hospital says the most costly part of healthcare is all the nonemergencies pouring into the ERs. Drug seekers are probably the worst because they are most frequent.
September 13, 2009 at 12:38 p.m.the problem is that they cannot turn down non-emergency conditions either. That is one area that needs addressing.
September 13, 2009 at 12:07 p.m.The emergency rooms cannot turn away any person that is in a medical crisis.
September 13, 2009 at 12:06 p.m.Most people know that the state Massachusetts has a government health insurance that force people to pay for health insurance, example, if you’re single and make around $20,000 a year then you must pay $5,000 a year for your health insurance if your job offers it, if not you can find your own health insurance, but only if your job does not offer it, other words you are stuck.
September 12, 2009 at 9:15 p.m.Now that Massachusetts is running out of money and another tax increase is being planned, the citizens are getting very angry, because the illegal immigrants are using the emergency rooms for doctors visits and other medical needs, so the answer will be yes, illegal immigrants will use the ER and you and all citizens will pay.
I have a question. During President Obama's televised speech a few nights ago, he stated illegal aliens would not be included in the new health care reform bill. I heard the next day that Republican senator McCain agreed with the president. My question is, does this mean that one day when all Americans have health care insurance under the new plan, that illegals will not be able to continue to use our ERs as their doctor's office?
Also, I've always wanted to ask someone who works at our ERs what kind of questions and interaction does the hospital personnel have with the uninsured, legal or illegal folks.
September 12, 2009 at 8:52 p.m.If the Democrats think healthcare reform is tough, just wait until it is time to deal with illegal immigration.
September 12, 2009 at 11:56 a.m.We have to remember what happened on 9/11 when we welomed the outside people to our beloved country.
September 12, 2009 at 11:48 a.m.Can we trade some of these illegals (who are wanting to work) for the thousands of people right here in Victoria who are too lazy to get out and get a job. Guess you can't blame them....food stamps, medicaid, etc...Gotta love the welfare system
September 12, 2009 at 11:19 a.m.Reads like one of you need to go out to the area where they are and hand them a $100.00 dollars and say WELCOME TO OUR WELFARE SYSTEM!
September 12, 2009 at 9:34 a.m.Can not understand why the illegals are coming into this country at this time, is there a big job fair going on? Maybe they are going over to the nuclear plant where the union workers are walking off their jobs..
September 12, 2009 at 8:49 a.m.I'm not biting. You are making more out of it than I said.
September 12, 2009 at 1:53 a.m.Have a good night, VBB
Oh not me.....you. How can you differentiate between humans?
September 12, 2009 at 12:48 a.m.VBB, and after last night, I'm surprised you would even consider anything that costs you more money.
September 12, 2009 at 12:32 a.m.I made a simple statement in answer to rdela5.
September 12, 2009 at 12:30 a.m.Suzy, give these poor struggling humans a break! They are just looking for a humane way of life, how dare you begrudge them the same freedoms you enjoy. Heartless!
September 12, 2009 at 12:18 a.m.when you run, you have something to hide.
September 12, 2009 at 12:15 a.m.They are "suspected" illegals, It is probably a sure bet, that when the officer conducted the traffic stop and 12 people take off running, who else tests the limits of a vehicles occupancy capability.
