Kenneth and Shirley Woodard recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple married on September 5, 1959 in Bruceville, Texas. They have lived and worked in Greenwood, MS, Wichita Falls, TX, and Stephenville, TX, Ken is retired from the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station-Stephenville and Shirley is retired from Tarleton State University in Stephenville. After retirement, the couple opted to live where the winters are relatively warm.

They moved to Victoria in 1998 in time to be greeted by The Flood of the Century. Ken and Shirley have been involved as certified volunteers in the Long-Term Care Ombudsman program since 1999.

Ken and Shirley were honored by their daughters with a family vacation in June at Port Aransas. Their daughters are Sylvia (Wayne) Ekdahl of Stamford and Kenda (Chuck) Matson of Victoria. The couple have four grandchildren: Sabrina (Dustin) Scheerer, Joseph Ekdahl, Keefe Matson and Charlsa Matson, and one great-grandchild, Sydney Anne Scheerer.
