HOT SPRINGS, Va. (AP) — Sherry Herman is celebrating the biggest title of her career.
She pulled away for a 4 and 3 win in the final of the US Women's Senior Amateur on Thursday at The Homestead's Cascades Course.
Herman, Farmingdale, N.J., won four of the first nine holes on the back nine to take a 4-up lead over Carolyn Creekmore of Dallas, Texas. Herman took the lead for good with a birdie on the 10th hole.
Herman, 51, clinched the title with par on the par-3 15th hole. She also won the North&South Senior Women's Amateur earlier this year.
